Get familiar. Then keep it familiar.
Learning something and remembering it are different jobs. Give each one a little space.

01 / LEARN
Find your flow, one step at a time.
Build a run from your cards and work through it in order. Get one wrong? Return to your last checkpoint and give it another go.

02 / REMEMBER
Come back when it’s time to recall.
Review what’s due, reveal the answer, and rate your recall. Spaced repetition helps decide when that card should come back.

THE THINKING BEHIND HIPPOMORY
One idea can lead to the next.
A line in a story can cue the line after it. A molecule can cue the next step in a pathway. Hippomory lets you practise those connections as an ordered sequence.
Start with a small chain you can hold together. Then add the details. That’s the idea behind chunking: organising related pieces into a meaningful whole.
A GLIMPSE OF GLYCOLYSISSame sequence. More detail.
Molecule 1Glucose
Molecule 2Glucose-6-phosphate
Molecule 3Fructose-6-phosphate
First, practise the molecules in order. Add the enzymes when the chain feels familiar.
01
Connect the pieces.
Make a sequence from steps that belong together. Learn the main chain first, then practise it with its details.
02
Recall, then check.
Try the answer before you flip. In Learn, a mistake takes you back to your last checkpoint so you can practise the connections again.
03
Come back to it.
Finishing once is a beginning. Remember brings material back for spaced reviews, using your recall ratings to plan the next visit.
Sequences suit information with a meaningful order. Independent facts can stay simple cards.
A little of the research behind the approach +
Research supports practising retrieval and spreading study over time. Chunking research explores how sequences become organised into smaller groups. These ideas inform Hippomory’s design; they are not a study of Hippomory itself.
What’s the difference between Learn and Remember?+
Learn helps you practise a set of cards in order. You reveal each answer and mark it right or wrong; a mistake takes you back to the last checkpoint. Remember brings cards back for spaced reviews and uses your recall ratings to schedule the next review. Learn practice stays separate from that schedule.
What is a Sequence card?+
A Sequence is one card that opens into an ordered chain—such as lines of a story or steps in a pathway. You practise the main steps first, then the sequence with its details. In Remember, the entire sequence is reviewed as one card.
Where do my cards and progress live?+
The current Apple silicon Mac preview saves cards, media, settings, and study progress on your computer. It works offline for studying and supports local backups. Website accounts do not sync your study collection.
Can I bring my existing cards?+
Yes. The current Mac preview supports Anki deck imports and structured text or spreadsheet imports. You can also create cards directly in the app, including images and audio. Import instructions are available inside Import deck.
Do I need a website account?+
An account is optional for exploring the website. Account features and paid access are being prepared for launch. Creating an account does not start a subscription or upload your local study library.
Which devices will Hippomory support?+
The first planned release is for desktop: macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows, and Linux. The current preview has been tested only on Apple silicon Macs; the other desktop versions remain in development. iPhone, iPad, and Android are planned afterward. Studying in a web browser is a separate future phase. Public downloads are not open yet.
How will creator codes work?+
The planned subscription is $25 USD per year. An eligible creator code will reduce it to $20 USD per year, including renewals. Payments and code redemption are not live yet; final checkout details will be shown before you subscribe.
A LITTLE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO
Your next chapter starts with a little practice.
The current preview is for Apple silicon Macs. We’re developing the desktop release for macOS, Windows, and Linux; mobile comes afterward.
